I hate Steam as a service for ruining the PC game industry and retail sales, but the Deck is pretty fucking great. Playing a lot of games on it and it really feels worth the $400 I paid for my LCD model.>>11466495
Those days, an LED that you could power without draining the GBC batteries in 90 minutes was very weak. Of course they could have put an opaque plastic bit in front of it to diffuse the light, but the resulting light would have been super fucking weak. With these spotlights you could at least see the middle of the screen relatively well. Also the modern reading light in the example is a white LED, which were not economical until like 2012, that's why these wormlights appear purplish or pinkish.>>11467006
I like my LCD one, I would miss it if it broke or something. But I tend to go to my DS or 3DS for whatever I can run or emulate on those, because the Deck is really kinda big, even for a big guy like me.
There's no way though I would spend $500 now on the OLED one, after already having bought the LCD one. Fucking gayben released the OLED like 2 months after I had bought mine. I'm still salty about that.
I'm waiting for a new gen of x86 handhelds and I'll upgrade when we get something that's significantly better than the ROG Ally X.>>11466972
